Haha, oops! That 11 yen CRT at HARD OFF ended up coming home with me…
We got an iiyama MT-8617E, a 17" CRT with a Mitsubishi Diamondtron tube.
Looking around the back in addition to VGA D-Sub, we got BNC connectors revealing we have Sync-on-Green support.
Did a web search which turned up an original flyer and the specs page from the manual.
The chonker is home!
The display suffers from some severe pin-cushioning, even with the adjustments cranked to the max. I guess this means we need to replace some bad caps inside? Sharpness and everything else seems good.
The junk label at HARD OFF said "it powers on, but turns off sometimes”. In practice what I'm seeing is that sometimes the image flickers out/in. After leaving it on for 30+ minutes the issue seems to reduce, again - bad caps?
I like how it introduces itself on power-on!
ok, ok! We all know what you came here for!
I tried slapping it and shaking it a few times which didn't cause the image to flicker out, so I don't think it's cracked solder joints.
