Also ZFS really does it's best to try to scare the crap out of you every chance it has - this pool is fine after re-installing TrueNAS onto a new SSD and importing it there.

(my guess is it without doing a full import it was just skimming the disks by the device name, I think these older vdevs were not by devfs IDs)
