They're constructing a new tunnel in our city (because Just One More Lane will finally fix traffic), and since this is Japan, of course they had to create a character for the tunnel boring machine, シールドどん (Shieldon), that you can see when you follow the status their web site

On the boring end, there are the scores for the bores and it has a face with an omega-style mouth, and a red nose in the middle.
