Sometimes I feel like I'm in a living museum

Sometimes I feel like I'm in a living museum. I've been supporting my friends karaoke bar since it opened in March 2020, and just like 3 weeks ago I noticed a button in their karaoke system

The system is from 2012 (but still common and kept updated with new songs). It has an IR port and i saw it supports sending photos from feature phones via IrDA to display and draw on on the karaoke screen. I had to test this!

Today I brought my Sony Clie and damn, it still works!

A Sony Clie NX70V running the Clie Camera app with a photo on the screen. There are buttons for info, delete, send etc Two photos of a very common Japanese karaoke remote control. The first one says “I can read photos from your keitai!” with a photo of the remote and a red flip phone with waves going between them. There is an arrow to the second photo. The second photo is a photo of the karaoke remote showing a graphic of the karaoke remote next to a red flip phone with waves between them with a message telling you to send the photo and a cancel button. A Sony Clie in front of a karaoke remote with the Clie showing the PalmOS beaming dialog and the karaoke control showing a receiving message Two photos. The first one is of a karaoke remote control showing a photo with editing controls around it for drawing, adding stickers etc. There is an arrow to the second photo. The second photo shows a TV with the same photo on it.

1. I was going to do this yesterday but I forgot that this thing has a hold switch. I thought the battery I had swapped into it was bad since the wake button was blinking 🤦🏼‍♂️

2. I wanted to shoot a video, but the iPhone runs its LIDAR on IR for autofocus and just taking a photo of this process kills the transfer
